Job Description

Our Client

  • Is a family-owned, publicly traded furniture company that has been part of Canadian homes for more than a century.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 1-2 direct reports, offering guidance and coaching to enhance their performance.
  • Oversee the month-end close procedures, including the review of journal entries, elimination entries, recurring entries, and accruals.
  • Conduct reviews of monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly variances, providing insights and recommendations to drive performance improvement.
  • Direct the quarterly and annual financial reporting process, encompassing group consolidation, financial statement preparation, MD&A drafting, and press release coordination.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly internal reports to senior management, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Support interim and year-end audit activities, ensuring compliance and cooperation with auditors.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing financial processes and recommend improvements.
  • Engage in special projects as needed, contributing expertise and insights to achieve project objectives.
  • Collaborate with operational and other corporate departments to address financial needs and foster effective communication.


Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred, with over 6 years of comprehensive accounting and reporting expertise.
  • Proven track record in team management, showcasing leadership skills and fostering team development.
  • Proficient in external reporting processes and deliverables, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Deep understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), including technical accounting intricacies and reporting obligations.
  • Effective communicator across all organizational levels, adept at conveying complex financial information clearly.
  • Displays adaptability and readiness to tackle assignments beyond designated responsibilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, facilitating seamless collaboration and understanding.
  • Possesses strong analytical capabilities, with a keen eye for detail and commitment to precision.
